Strategic Grid Manager

The Strategic Grid Manager will lead the planning and execution of integrated technology and infrastructure initiatives that will ensure the organisation’s success in the renewable energy landscape.
This role will focus on the commercial development phase, fostering partnerships, early development activity, and ensuring a strategic and optimum approach to infrastructure is pursued.
Main Accountabilities:
Drive the development of a comprehensive grid and infrastructure plan that aligns with national energy policies and industry standards, ensuring future readiness and scalability. Work closely with colleagues in the Engineering, Grid, Planning, and Investment teams to ensure our infrastructure plans are achievable and aligned with the strategic vision of the company.
Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, industry partners, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for infrastructure projects. Collaborate with EirGrid, CRU, GNI, Uisce Éireann, and other key stakeholders to agree on infrastructure requirements, timelines, and investment strategies.
Lead management of partnerships or key stakeholders in the key infrastructure development segments. Represent the organisation in public consultations, forums, and industry events, effectively communicating the company’s strategic vision and objectives.
Develop a roadmap for infrastructure deployment and investments that supports sustainable growth and operational efficiency, and work with the Finance team to ensure the plan is deliverable. Manage contractual negotiations to ensure optimum outcomes for the business and ensure timely completion and execution of contracts and agreements to meet the company’s strategy and objectives. Liaise and work internally with the legal department to drive contractual workstreams to successful conclusion.
Liaise and work internally with the wider Market Investment, Finance, and Engineering teams to ensure robust investment cases for projects that include strategic infrastructure elements. Collaborate with colleagues to update the long-term financial and strategic plan for the company and ensure coordinated efforts in achieving business objectives.
Mentor and develop a team of project management and technology professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance. Lead cross-departmental projects and initiatives to drive alignment and achieve business goals.
Facilitate knowledge sharing and professional development within the team to enhance expertise.

Requirements:
Third-level degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline
Minimum 10 years’ experience in energy or large-scale infrastructure projects
Proven track record managing large-scale projects and ownership of project or process delivery
Strong technical understanding of electricity transmission grid planning, development, and operation
Familiarity with regulatory, grid, and planning frameworks relevant to energy infrastructure in Ireland
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and deliver projects in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
Experience collaborating with key stakeholders and regulatory bodies
Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP or equivalent) is desirable
Strong commercial acumen with experience in budget control, procurement, contract management and negotiation, and resource optimisation
Highly adaptable and innovative with strong problem-solving skills
Experience in sectors such as Renewable Energy, Power Generation, Technology, or Grid Infrastructure
Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Management, or Commercial disciplines is advantageous
