The PMO Program Managers lead the delivery of large-scale renewable energy programs, including wind, solar, battery storage, flex-tech, and grid infrastructure developments. This strategic role is responsible for overseeing multiple interrelated projects, ensuring alignment with business goals, and delivering on-time, on-budget, and to quality standards.

The Program Manager will also lead and develop a high-performing team of Project Managers, ensuring consistent governance, methodology, and delivery capability across the portfolio. This role will manage the development of a program of joint venture renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight and coordination of large-scale renewable energy programs, ensuring successful integration of multiple projects under common objectives. Lead on program planning, execution, and benefits realisation in line with strategic objectives. Ensure the development of bespoke project plans for each project, to include scope, budget, programme, risk, and resource plans based on the requirements of the project, and availability of appropriate resources from other functions across the business and external advisors.

  • Lead and manage a team of Project Managers, fostering a high-performance culture focused on delivery excellence. Provide mentoring, coaching, and career development support, while ensuring effective resource deployment and workload balance across projects. Support the wider programs and projects to deliver on the company’s strategic goals.

  • Establish and uphold strong governance practices across the projects, including adherence to internal processes and standards, reporting protocols, and regulatory requirements. Deliver high-quality reports, dashboards, and briefings to senior leadership and relevant oversight committees.

  • Act as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure proactive communication, issue resolution, and alignment throughout the project lifecycle. Manage resource planning and procurement activities, including the engagement of consultants and contractors, to ensure optimal delivery capacity.

  • Oversee program budgeting and financial forecasting, ensuring projects are delivered within approved funding limits. Negotiate and deliver transactions for complex commercial arrangements on behalf of the business, in line with agreed strategy to maximise strategic value and manage risks, delivering clear and executable contracts.

  • Identify, assess, and manage program-level risks, ensuring mitigation strategies are implemented effectively. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging lessons learned and best practices to enhance project delivery performance and PMO maturity.

  • All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises.

  • Lead and performance manage your direct report(s). Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s, objectives.

Experience

  • A third-level degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline (master’s degree advantageous)

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in large-scale energy or infrastructure project delivery, with at least 3 in a senior management role within the energy sector

  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in budget control, procurement, contract management, and resource optimisation

  • Familiarity with regulatory, grid, and planning frameworks relevant to energy infrastructure in Ireland is essential

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and deliver projects in complex, multi-stakeholder settings

  • Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP or equivalent) is desirable

  • In-depth knowledge of project management principles, with the ability to steer a number of parallel large-scale energy projects through development and construction using a lean outsourced project management structure
