Lead Electrical Engineer – Onshore Renewables

Ventus is partnering with a leading international renewable energy developer with an active and growing pipeline of onshore wind, solar PV, and battery storage projects in different international locations. We are looking for a driven Lead Electrical Engineer to lead the review of the electrical design aspects of projects – from early concept through to construction.

The Role

You will lead electrical design review across development and construction stages across the company’s live project pipeline, while directly delivering concept and basic design work in the early phases of new projects. Working across a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide authoritative technical guidance, manage external consultants, and act as the go-to electrical expert for investment and delivery teams alike.

Responsibilities

•      Lead electrical concept and preliminary design, including grid connection strategies, HV architectures, substations, and collection systems.

•      Perform key engineering calculations: cable sizing, losses, reactive power, and system optimisation.

•      Supervise and review external electrical design consultants, ensuring technical consistency from concept to detailed design.

•      Lead technical due diligence on new projects and support assessment of investment opportunities.

•      Prepare RfP packages and lead technical discussions with OEMs, contractors, and engineering consultants.

•      Provide CAPEX, OPEX, energy yield, and risk inputs to support financial modelling and investment decisions.

•      Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior stakeholders and investment committees.

What We’re Looking For

•      BSc in Electrical Engineering (postgraduate qualification desirable).

•      10+ years’ experience in wind or solar project engineering, consultancy, or development.

•      Proven experience in conceptual electrical design of wind farms above 50 MW; solar PV experience is a plus.

•      Background in substations and distribution/transmission networks electrical design

•      Proficient in relevant design tools: AutoCAD, PLS-CAD, CYMCAP, CYME, DIgSILENT, Microsoft Project.

•      Business-level fluency in English (written and spoken).
