Construction Manager - Egypt / Spain

Ventus is working with a leading developer and infrastructure investment fund to recruit an experienced site-based Construction Manager to lead the planning, direction, and coordination of an onshore wind farm construction project in Egypt, overseeing OEM and BoP Contractors, Owner’s Engineers, auditors, and site engineers. The position is Madrid based on a Spanish employment contract with frequent and extended periods of travel to site in Egypt.
Location: Madrid with 5 weekly rotations spent at the Construction Site in Egypt
Reports to: Project Execution Manager
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead the planning, direction, and coordination of wind farm construction projects in Egypt, overseeing OEM and BoP Contractors, Owner’s Engineers, auditors, and site engineers.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure site performance meets specifications, schedule, contract requirements, and financial guidelines.
• Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental Regulations across all construction activities.
• Oversee contractor performance and coordinate with the wider project team; review and validate progress reports.
• Manage and mitigate project delivery risks; resolve issues related to logistics, heavy-lift operations, and technical matters.
• Oversee contractor compliance with civil, electrical, and wind turbine installation standards, local regulations, and QMS.
• Manage handover to the O&M phase, as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and commissioning certificates.
• Support the Project Manager with contractual claims, variations, change orders, and environmental or permitting issues.
• Attend key progress and coordination meetings; report to the Project Manager and Senior Management Team.
Qualifications & Experience
• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Civil or Electrical preferred); PMP or equivalent is desirable.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in site management for renewables or major construction projects, with at least 5 years at Construction Management level.
• Proven experience managing international wind projects; experience in Egypt is highly desirable.
• Applications are encouraged from candidates based in Spain who are willing to work on a rotation of 5 weeks at the construction site in Egypt and 1 week in Spain.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong leadership and people management skills; able to work autonomously and within a team.
• Excellent communication skills with fluency in English is essential
• Competent in conflict and crisis management with a collaborative approach.
• Sound knowledge of HSE legislation, QA processes, procurement, and contract management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiar with construction specification, commissioning, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability and enthusiasm to travel to the construction site in Egypt for 5 week rotations. Travel and accommodation expenses will be fully covered by our client.
