Head of Finance & Operations

Location: Glasgow | Hours: Full-time (37.5 hrs/week) | Salary: Competitive, DOE

Our client is a highly respected organisation operating within the renewable energy sector. We are working in partnership with them to help source a suitably qualified and experienced candidate for the role of Head of Finance & Operations. The post-holder will lead on its operational infrastructure, business systems and financial management. This is a senior leadership role offering the opportunity to shape how a dynamic, purpose-driven organisation runs day to day - and to set it up for sustainable growth.

Reporting to the Director of Finance & Commercial and leading a small team (Office and Wellness Manager, Credit Controller, Financial Controller), you'll be the driving force behind operational efficiency, technology, governance and financial performance.

The Role

  • Lead the development and delivery of the organisation's operational strategy, ensuring systems, processes and resources support its objectives.

  • Oversee operational infrastructure including IT systems, CRM platforms, website functionality, membership systems and digital tools.

  • Act as the organisational lead for technology and systems development, ensuring platforms are secure, efficient and fit for purpose.

  • Identify and embed improvements in operational efficiency, automation, reporting and overall effectiveness.

  • Lead supplier, contractor and technology partner relationships, ensuring value for money and service quality.

  • Oversee procurement, contract management and supplier performance.

  • Support financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.

  • Ensure robust financial controls and management information to support decision-making.

  • Lead compliance activity across financial, legal, regulatory, governance, data protection and operational requirements.

  • Develop performance dashboards and operational insights to inform strategic decisions.

  • Lead, develop and support your team to achieve high performance and continuous improvement.

About You

  • Significant experience in a senior finance and operations leadership role.

  • Professional accounting qualification is ideal (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), however, substantial relevant experience will also be considered

  • Strong track record in budgeting, forecasting, financial management and reporting.

  • Proven experience leading operations, business systems and improvement initiatives.

  • Solid technical understanding of CRM platforms, digital technologies and operational processes.

  • Experience managing IT suppliers and technology/systems projects.

  • Strong analytical skills, translating complex data into practical recommendations.

  • Excellent leadership skills, with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.

  • Confident communicator, able to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders.

Desirable: experience within a not for profit organisation, charity, professional body or SME; experience leading digital transformation projects; knowledge of governance frameworks and Board reporting; understanding of data protection and cyber security principles
