General Manager - Offshore Wind

The Role
Our client, a renewable energy investor, owner and operator, is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the safe, efficient and commercially effective operation of a wind farm asset.
The role provides strategic leadership across organisational readiness, operational excellence, regulatory compliance and shareholder alignment. The General Manager will act as the primary interface between the project company and its shareholders, lead the operations team, and take full accountability for the safe, compliant and commercially successful running of the asset, including responsibility for significant P&L and budget delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and managing the operations organisation, ensuring appropriate structure, supervision and accountability arrangements are in place.
Acting as the primary interface with shareholders, investors, financing parties, insurers, regulators and other key stakeholders.
Chairing and supporting governance forums, including board reporting and operations committees, ensuring sound decision-making and consistent shareholder representation.
Championing a strong safety culture, ensuring operational risks are managed in line with relevant regulations, industry best practice and international standards for operational safety, environmental protection and occupational health and safety.
Overseeing financial and commercial performance, working closely with the finance function to ensure prudent planning, compliance with tax and regulatory obligations, and maximisation of investment returns.
Maintaining oversight of major operational risks, ensuring mitigation strategies, contingency plans and risk governance structures are in place and actively managed.
Ensuring full compliance with all legal, regulatory and contractual obligations, including those arising from financing arrangements.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
Significant senior leadership experience in offshore wind, offshore oil and gas, power generation, transmission, utilities or other comparable asset-intensive industries.
Experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams, with proven responsibility for P&L management and budget accountability.
Experience working with senior executives, investors, regulators and external stakeholders, within robust corporate governance frameworks.
A track record of driving improvements in operational performance.
Strong knowledge of wind farm operations, asset management principles and performance optimisation, along with a solid understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality management systems and relevant regulatory requirements.
Strategic thinking, strong financial and commercial acumen, and excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills.
Degree qualification in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Marine Operations, Business Management or a related discipline.
Desirable:
A track record of leading complex offshore wind operations, including experience of development and construction phases.
Experience working within joint venture structures.
Postgraduate qualification (MBA, MSc, or Executive Leadership Programme) and/or a Health & Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH).
