The Role
Reporting to the Head of Commercial, the Contract Manager will provide contractual expertise across both the pre-contract and post-award phases of project delivery, working across the Group's operating businesses on technically complex, commercially significant projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Reviewing, marking up and qualifying contract documents (NDAs, MSAs, NEC, FIDIC, bespoke client terms and subcontract forms), and identifying deviations from standard commercial positions.
Developing contract qualifications, redlines, position papers and negotiation strategies to support competitive tender submissions.
Administering live contracts, including notices, early warnings, compensation events and change control.
Identifying and escalating risk around liability, indemnity, insurance and consequential loss, and helping to shape the Group's standard contracting positions.
Managing subcontract flow-down and advising operational teams on contract interpretation.
Supporting corporate governance activity, including Board and shareholder meetings and resolutions.
The Requirements (Candidate Profile)
Proven contract review, negotiation and administration experience within energy, construction, industrial services or offshore sectors.
Strong working knowledge of NEC, FIDIC and/or bespoke EPC/EPCM contracts.
A sound grasp of risk allocation, liability, indemnity and insurance in project-based environments.
Experience supporting bids and tenders from a contractual perspective, alongside post-award administration and claims.
Commercially pragmatic and analytically rigorous, able to explain complex contractual issues clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
Ideal experience would include previous steel fabrication contract exposure or track record of working within a major Developer or EPCI in the energy sector
Desirable: offshore wind, oil and gas, marine or fabrication experience; a legal or commercial qualification (LLB, LLM, WCC/IACCM); and familiarity with Scots and English law.
