Commercial Contracts Manager - Offshore Wind

Ventus is working with a leading offshore wind developer, based in Edinburgh, to appoint a Commercial Contracts Manager to support the development, procurement, construction and operation of offshore wind projects. The role will be responsible for managing key supplier relationships, overseeing the commercial performance of major contracts, supporting procurement activities, leading contract negotiations, and ensuring effective contract implementation throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with project, engineering, procurement, legal and finance teams to deliver value, manage commercial risk, and support the successful execution of offshore wind projects.

Key Responsibilities

Contract and Commercial Management

  • Lead the commercial management of major project contracts, subcontracts and framework agreements across offshore wind development activities.

  • Support procurement activities, including tender preparation, commercial evaluation of bids, supplier selection and contract award processes.

  • Lead or support commercial negotiations with suppliers, contractors and service providers to secure commercially advantageous outcomes and balanced contractual arrangements.

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial terms and conditions in collaboration with legal and project teams.

  • Support contract implementation and administration, including management of contractual obligations, deliverables, variations, claims, payment mechanisms and dispute resolution.

  • Contribute to the project’s CfD bidding strategy by developing commercial assumptions, supporting price and risk analysis, and coordinating inputs to deliver a competitive, compliant and bankable bid.

 Supplier Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary commercial interface for designated key strategic suppliers.

  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers to drive performance, value creation and continuous improvement.

  • Lead regular commercial and performance reviews with suppliers.

  • Manage supplier performance against contractual obligations, key performance indicators and project requirements.

  • Resolve commercial issues and support effective stakeholder engagement across internal and external teams.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build effective relationships with project, engineering, finance, legal and procurement stakeholders.

  • Interact and build effective relationships with joint venture shareholders, ensuring transparent communication, aligned commercial objectives and timely resolution of issues to protect and enhance JV value.

  • Present commercial updates, recommendations and risk assessments to senior management.

  • Support cross-functional collaboration to achieve project milestones and business objectives.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Significant commercial management experience within offshore wind, renewable energy, infrastructure, engineering or major capital projects.

  • Demonstrated experience managing high-value contracts and supplier relationships.

  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, tendering and contract management principles.

  • Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements and contract terms.

  • Knowledge of common contract forms and commercial structures used in large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify risks and opportunities.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Strong analytical, financial and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced project environment.
