PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST - FLOATING WIND

Location - Glasgow (Hybrid)

Ref - Proc OSW GL

Ventus is working with a leading renewable energy developer on one of the most ambitious and technically innovative infrastructure projects currently in development in the UK. If you're a procurement professional with a passion for major projects and a desire to work at the sharp end of the energy transition, this could be exactly what you've been looking for.

The Client

Our client is advancing a multi-billion-pound offshore wind development that, when complete, will have the capacity to power a significant proportion of homes for decades to come. The project is at an exciting inflection point - consent has been submitted and the team is now focused on preparing for the next major phase of delivery, with supply chain and commercial activity ramping up accordingly as the project advances.

What makes this project particularly special is its use of cutting-edge technology within a relatively new and fast-growing segment of the renewables market that is attracting significant investment and political support both in the UK and globally. You'd be joining at exactly the right moment.

The Role

This is a broad, hands-on procurement role sitting within a close-knit and experienced Commercial Team. Reporting to the Supply Chain and Procurement Lead, you'll take ownership of tendering activity across a range of specialist contracts while also contributing to the strategic direction of the procurement function.

Day-to-day you can expect to be:

  • Driving tender processes from start to finish - coordinating documentation, managing timelines and keeping the wider project team informed and aligned

  • Getting under the skin of the supply chain - prequalifying suppliers, building relationships and gathering the market intelligence the project needs to make smart commercial decisions

  • Supporting the development and embedding of procurement governance and policy across the team

  • Contributing to high-profile industry and government supply chain initiatives that sit at the heart of the UK's clean energy ambitions

This isn't a role where you'll be buried in process. Our client values initiative, clear thinking and people who are willing to roll their sleeves up and get things done.

The Requirements

You'll be a procurement professional who's cut their teeth on major construction or infrastructure projects and is ready to take a step up into a genuinely complex and rewarding environment.

You'll bring:

  • Around 5 years' procurement experience gained on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in procurement, commercial, business or engineering

  • The ability to work across disciplines - you're as comfortable talking to engineers as you are to lawyers or project managers

  • A solid grasp of UK HSE requirements as they relate to procurement

  • An agile mindset - this is a fast-moving project and priorities can shift

If you also bring experience from the offshore energy sector - whether that's renewables, oil & gas or transmission - or knowledge of the UK government funding and regulatory landscape for offshore wind, so much the better. Chartership with RICS, CIPS, ICES or a similar body is also a plus, though not a dealbreaker.

Why Apply?

  • Be part of a genuinely ground-breaking project at the frontier of floating offshore wind

  • Work within a talented, collaborative and purpose-driven team

  • A role with real breadth - strategy, governance, supplier relationships and hands-on tendering

  • Strong benefits package including private healthcare, pension, life assurance, annual bonus and flexible/hybrid working

  • Glasgow base with a team culture that values people as much as process
