Our client, a leading engineering consultancy, is looking to appoint a Principal Consultant, to act as Deputy Head of Grid.
Role Responsibilities
Lead grid connection feasibility studies, including technical and regulatory assessments.
Provide expert advice on UK grid regulations, including the Grid Code, CUSC, and Distribution Codes.
Develop and manage grid connection applications for major energy and infrastructure projects.
Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), National Grid ESO, and other stakeholders to secure grid access.
Conduct grid impact assessments and power system studies (e.g., load flow, fault level, dynamic stability).
Support clients in negotiating connection agreements and overcoming grid constraints.
Contribute to the design and optimisation of electrical infrastructure, ensuring compliance with UK grid standards.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge-sharing within the team.
Required Experience
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Extensive experience in UK grid connections, power systems, or electrical infrastructure design.
Strong knowledge of transmission and distribution networks, including regulatory frameworks.
Proficiency in power system analysis tools (e.g., PowerFactory, PSS®E, ETAP).
Proven ability to engage with key stakeholders such as DNOs, NGESO, Ofgem, and developers.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work on complex grid connection challenges.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
