Ventus is working with a leading Irish Renewable Energy Developer who are seeking a CAD Technician to join their growing Engineering and Design team. This role is ideally suited to a professional who is enthusiastic about renewable energy and looking to build a career in the design and delivery of large-scale solar and sustainable energy projects.

The CAD Technician will work closely with our engineering, planning, and project development teams to produce accurate technical drawings and layouts that support all stages of project development, from concept to construction.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Prepare and develop 2D and 3D CAD drawings, plans, and layouts for solar PV and wind projects.

  • Support the engineering team with site layout design, electrical schematics, and civil/structural coordination.

  • Update and maintain drawing packages throughout the design and construction process.

  • Work collaboratively with project managers and engineers to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with design standards.

  • Assist in preparing planning and construction documentation.

  • Manage drawing files, version control, and contribute to maintaining standardised CAD templates and libraries.

  • Provide technical drafting support across multiple projects as required.

Requirements:

  • A diploma or degree in Engineering Design, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.

  • Professional CAD experience, ideally within the renewable energy, utilities, or construction sectors (new graduates with relevant internship experience will also be considered).

  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Civil 3D, Revit, or GIS tools is an advantage.

  • Good understanding of site layout principles, topographical drawings, and infrastructure design.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Enthusiasm for renewable energy and sustainability.
