The Senior Principal in the Investment team will play a crucial leadership role in shaping and executing the investment strategy. They will manage the full investment process alongside the Senior Leadership Team, overseeing the performance and development of the Investment team. Reporting directly to the Founders, this individual will serve as a strategic advisor, actively influencing growth decisions and guiding the execution of the investment portfolio within the META and Balkans regions.
As the most senior member of the investment team, the Senior Principal will drive deal origination, structuring, and execution while ensuring alignment with objectives, governance standards, and ESG principles. In addition to delivering on investment outcomes, they will be responsible for mentoring and cultivating a high-performing, values-driven team.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing investment team.
Advise senior leadership on pipeline priorities, risk, capital allocation, and exits.
Align team activities with overall business strategy and drive cross-functional collaboration.
Origination & Execution
Source, evaluate, and execute investment opportunities across target markets.
Manage full transaction lifecycle: origination, diligence, modelling, structuring, and closing.
Shape investment theses by monitoring market, policy, and regulatory trends.
Present clear, data-driven recommendations to the Investment Committee.
Portfolio Management
Oversee portfolio performance and drive value creation initiatives.
Provide guidance on optimisation, refinancing, exits, and partnerships.
Represent the organisation in board meetings as needed.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build relationships with governments, DFIs, investors, developers, and industry bodies.
Represent the organisation at international conferences and industry events.
Governance & Execution
Ensure compliance with governance, legal, and ESG standards.
Manage external advisers to ensure quality outcomes.
Promote disciplined execution, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred).
15+ years in investment management or private equity, with a track record in renewable energy.
Experience leading diverse investment teams and executing complex deals in emerging markets (META & Balkans preferred).
Strong knowledge of renewable energy policy, project finance, and ESG integration.
Proven ability to engage with DFIs, governments, and institutional investors.
